Airplane Poem by Lacy Pittman

Sitting here all alone

the gloom fills the air.

Taking a a deep breath

I bend to sit

and as I sit I stare.

I stare at a place far away

through the window pane.

I look at this tiny piece of the world

as I wait to board my plane.

All alone it's just me

and no one is around.

I wait in awkward silence

for my plane to leave the ground.

I am so very early

and that's the reason why

no one is around me now

while I wait to fly.

Hundreds of empty black chairs

stand in front of me.

A sea of emptiness

is all that I see.

I know not what is to come

later on my flight.

but I hope it'll all be great

I wish with all my might.

I know not what is to come

in the future where I go.

I hope there's something great ahead.

But this I do not know.
